This week’s weather: A little rain, lots of sunshine and chilly nights headed to southern Ontario

A stretch of pleasant, sunny weather is on the way for southern Ontario, but rain is expected to arrive first.

As of today (Sept. 8), the forecast calls for a windy and cloudy day with temperatures reaching 20 C. There is a 30  per cent chance of rain with wind speeds expected to reach 50 km/h.

By evening, skies will turn partly cloudy, with a 40 per cent chance of rain expected to return and continue overnight. Temperatures will drop to a cool 13 C.

 

Monday will start on a soggy note, with a 60 per cent chance of morning rain that could continue into the afternoon and potentially develop into a thunderstorm.

Daytime highs will rise to 20 C. The UV index will climb to a moderate level of 4.

Environment Canada advises protecting your skin when the UV index is three or higher, particularly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The humidex is anticipated to hit 25 C making conditions a tad uncomfortable for some individuals.

Additionally, Health Canada says that if outdoors, individuals should seek shade, wear protective clothing and hats, apply SPF 30 or higher sunscreen, avoid tanning, use UV-protective sunglasses and stay hydrated throughout the day.

By the evening, skies will turn partly cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of rain and the possibility of thunderstorms returning.

Temperatures will drop to a chilly 8 C —making it the coolest night of the week. Fog patches may develop after midnight.

Three days of sunshine and crystal clear skies will begin on Tuesday through Thursday. Daytime temperatures will soar between 24 C and 28 C, while evening lows will dip between 12 C and 14 C.

Friday and Saturday will be a mix of sun and clouds, with temperatures warming up between 27 C and 28 C. By evening, skies will remain cloudy, but no rain is expected. Temperatures will slip to 14 C.
