One area in Mississauga is among those with the highest COVID-19 percent positivity rates (percentage of positive COVID-19 tests in the area) in Ontario.

Toronto-based research group ICES listed postal code areas in Ontario with the highest percent positivity rates for the week of September 5 to 11.

Of the top 50 listed, one is in Mississauga: Postal code L5A, which stretches from Cawthra at Burnhamthorpe to Hurontario at the QEW.

L5A is reporting 6.78% positivity and is the area with the 46th highest COVID-19 positivity in Ontario.

The same data for the week shows that Mississauga and Brampton have the sixth worst COVID-19 positivity in Ontario.

Peel region’s COVID-19 map was also updated for the week of September 5 to 11, with some hotspots reporting incidence rates of 101 to 150 per 100,000.

According to Peel, the map shows a crude incidence rate defined as the total number of new cases within a specific time period divided by the total population and multiplied by 100,000.

For the week of September 5 to 11, Peel reports 196 new cases in Mississauga and 363 new cases in the region overall.
