Canada Day celebrations return to in-person events this year and the day will end with a firework display.

The star-studded line-up of Canada Day entertainment includes Canadian rapper, record producer and DJ Kardinal Offishall along with kids activities, vendors and food in Chinguacousy Park on Friday, July 1.

The live fireworks show, presented by Tim Hortons, starts at 10 p.m. in Chinguacousy Park, 9050 Bramalea Rd.

For those who want to set off fireworks at home — that is still allowed.

There was a proposal to ban fireworks on private property without a permit in Brampton but currently fireworks are allowed on Canada Day.

Dozens of residents opposed the proposal, which would have banned sale, purchase, possession or use of fireworks in Brampton without a permit.

There are four days per year when the city allows short-range fireworks to be set off on private property in Brampton without a permit; Victoria Day, Canada Day, Diwali and New Year’s Eve.

As this year marks a return to in-person events, those planning to head to Chinguacousy Park for fireworks might want to get there early to snag a good spot.

Alternative parking lots include Bramalea City Centre, Brampton Civic Centre, Greenbriar Recreation Centre, Lester B. Pearson Catholic School, St. Jean Brebeuf Catholic School, and Terry Miller Recreation Centre.

Residents may also want to check the weather forecast. Currently there is a chance of thunderstorms on July 1.
