Peel Region has identified a number of areas with higher COVID-19 rates in Mississauga and Brampton for the week of Jan. 30 to Feb. 5.
The region’s interactive map shows some areas reporting rates of up to 245.9 per 100,000 (area of Eglinton Ave W/Erin Mills Pkwy to Winston Churchill Blvd/Hwy 403 in Mississauga).
In Brampton, the area with the highest rate is the area of Kennedy Rd N and Sandalwood Pkwy E, which is reporting a rate of 242.1 per 100,000.
According to Peel, the map shows a crude incidence rate defined as the total number of new cases within a specific time period divided by the total population and multiplied by 100,000.
For the week of Jan. 30 to Feb. 5, 605 new cases were reported in Mississauga and 622 were reported in Brampton.
1,287 new cases were reported for the region overall.
For all Ontario residents, the overall percent positivity among those tested for COVID-19 during the week of Jan. 30 was 13.4%, down 1.2% from the previous week, according to Toronto-based research group ICES.
