A Halloween event just for the dogs comes to Mississauga soon.

The Halloween Parade and Doggie Costume Contest, hosted by Dogtopia Applewood and Port Credit BIA, comes to Port Credit on Saturday, Oct. 29.

The idea is for dogs and their owners to dress up for a fun Halloween parade and costume contest.

Dogs and their owners can meet at the LCBO parking lot, 200 Lakeshore Rd. E. at 2 p.m., and the parade runs from 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Participants will walk through Port Credit to the lighthouse and back to the LCBO.

After returning, at 3:30 p.m., judges will announce third, second and first place winners of the Doggie Costume Contest.

For those who don’t have a dog but would like to watch the parade, there will be complimentary halloween treats for parade goers and parade watchers.

Organizers ask dog owners to keep a close eye on and clean up after their pooches.

“We are all responsible for our own dog’s conduct during the Parade,” the organizers say.

It is free to participate but there may be limited spaces. Dogtopia Applewood asks people to reserve their spot by calling (647) 691-5477.

Participants don’t have to be a Dogtopia Applewood Pack Member to take part — the event is open to all.
