A neighbourhood in Mississauga reporting higher than average COVID-19 rates

One area in Mississauga is among those with the highest COVID-19 percent positivity rates (percentage of positive COVID-19 tests in the area) in Ontario.

Toronto-based research group ICES listed postal code areas in Ontario with the highest percent positivity rates for the week of August 1 to 7.

Of the top 50 listed, one is in Mississauga: Postal code L4W (area of Highway 401 and Pearson Airport), which is reporting 4.08% positivity.

L4W is the area with the 45th highest COVID-19 positivity in Ontario.

The same data for the week indicates that out of all of Ontario’s 34 public health units, Peel Region (Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon) has the eighth worst COVID-19 percent positivity in the province, higher than Ontario overall.

For all Ontario residents, the overall percent positivity among those tested for COVID-19 during the week of August 1 was 1.6%, an increase from 0.9% the previous week.

Ontario has reached 79% overall vaccine coverage of at least one dose, and 70% are now fully vaccinated (up 5% from the previous week.
