The third phase of the improvements to Trafalgar Road in Oakville is now underway and is expected to be completed soon.

Earlier this year, Halton Region began Phase 1 of these improvements in order to address future traffic demands and provide safe travel options for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.

The improvements included the widening of roads from four to six lanes, new sidewalks, off-road bike lanes, bus stops and shelters, traffic signals and street lights, noise walls, landscaping, water mains and an upgraded stormwater main infrastructure.

The first and second phases are now complete and Phase 3 of these improvements is underway.

On Saturday, July 10, there will be storm sewer works and other construction on Trafalgar Road between Sheridan College and Hays Boulevard from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

As a result, the speed limit along Trafalgar Road, from Leighland Avenue to north of Hays Boulevard, has been lowered to 50 km/h in order to ensure the safety of all staff.

Drivers are advised to proceed with caution on the roads and to plan ahead as there are no detour routes in place to avoid traffic on neighbouring residential areas.

There is, however, electronic signage throughout the area, enabled by Bluetooth technology, to provide drivers with up-to-date travel times.

The bike path on the west side of Trafalgar Road remains closed. Residents are being advised to follow signage during the closure.
