Looking to make plans with family and friends this weekend? Brampton has a variety of events to explore, from community walks and fitness challenges to beading workshops, concerts and storytime for the kids. Here’s what’s happening from Sept. 27 to Sept. 29:
September 27
Talk, Stroll, and Roll for Aphasia
The 8th Annual Talk, Stroll and Roll for Aphasia will take place at Chinguacousy Park. Participants are invited to walk, socialize, and raise awareness for Aphasia.

Time: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Storytime Adventures: The Way with Rabbit and Bear Paw
The Cyril Clark Theatre will host a puppet storytime. The story is about a Turtle who carries the world on her back and the tiny muskrat who gives the greatest gift: Turtle Island, a place to call home.
Registration is required and attendees are asked to include the number of guests to ensure there is seating for everyone.

Desi Variety Arts Open Mic
The Variety Arts Open Mic, hosted by Laalbutton, offers a night of diverse live entertainment featuring talented local artists and performers.

September 28
Brampton Museum of African History and Culture
The Peel Art Gallery, Museum, and Archives will host a free event in partnership with the organizers of the future African History Museum and Cultural Centre. The event will explore African history and identity in Brampton through talks on language, history, and the impacts of colonialism.
Guests can enjoy a performance by Master Drummer Griot Amadou Kienou and reflect on culture and community in the exhibition Stories of Home: Finding Community and Belonging in Peel.

Run For Brampton 2024
The Central Peel Turf Field will host Run For Brampton, a free event inviting participants to lace up their running shoes and hit the trails. Whether you’re an experienced runner or a beginner, this event is open to all and promotes fitness, community and support for a good cause.
Where: 32 Kennedy Rd. N.
Time: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The City of Brampton Parks and Forestry department, in partnership with the TRCA, will host a Brampton Scout and Community Tree Planting event. Participants will help contribute to Brampton’s goal of planting one million trees. Attendees are reminded to wear long pants, socks, and closed-toed shoes. Registration is required as there is a limit of 100 voulenteers.

Time: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Shri Prafull Dave, the King of Kings Garba sensation, is set to perform at Brampton Fairgrounds. The night will also feature Darshna Thakar and team for a vibrant celebration of traditional Garba. Tickets are $30, with limited availability due to venue capacity.

Brampton Tough Run
The Brampton Tough Run invites participants to a 5 km fun run featuring boot camp-style obstacles and fitness challenges along the route. This event is perfect for both experienced and beginner athletes. Registration ranges from $22.12 to $27.65.

Kids Beading Workshop – with Katie Longboat
In this special kids’ program on Truth and Reconciliation, Indigenous artist Katie Longboat will share traditional beading practices and techniques. Hailing from Six Nations of the Grand River Territory and now based in Toronto, Katie draws inspiration from Cree and Haudenosaunee beadwork styles, using contemporary materials to create jewelry and artwork. Registration is required for this event.

Garden of Wavs
Happening at Snelgrove Community Centre, the Music Showcase and Sound Market offers an immersive experience featuring listening booths where local recording artists will share their latest projects. Attendees can meet these rising stars and local community organizations that support artists in Brampton. The event will also include live performances and interactive demonstrations.

Brampton Farmers’ Market
This market offers plenty of options for those looking to buy fresh produce from local farmers.

Participants will walk to raise money and awareness for multiple myeloma cancer.
