Shots fired at a Mississauga transit bus

Four public transit bus routes in Mississauga will not be running on Good Friday (April 7) while another half-dozen will operate at reduced frequency.

Officials at MiWay, the City of Mississauga’s public transit provider, say routes 28 Confederation, 35 Eglinton, 46 Tenth Line-Osprey and 48 Erin Mills won’t operate at all on April 7 due to low customer demand.

Meanwhile, routes 4 Sherway Gardens, 5 Dixie, 17 Hurontario, 23 Lakeshore, 29 Park Royal-Homelands and 36 Colonial-Ridgeway will run at reduced frequency.

All other MiWay buses will operate on a holiday schedule, transit officials say.

MiWay introduced on Feb. 27 a series of changes and improvements that included the resumption of a Malton Express bus route and a host of service increases on routes operating in the busiest parts of Mississauga.

MiWay officials say they continually make improvements to the public transit service in efforts to make travel by bus easier for residents.

The next upgrades are scheduled to take effect starting April 24.

The most notable changes that took effect on Feb. 27 included the resumption of the Route 107 Malton Express on Saturdays and weekday service increases on routes 3 Bloor, 35 Eglinton and 39 Britannia.
