These are the sales at a Hudson’s Bay in Ontario as liquidation begins

Liquidation of all but six Hudson’s Bay stores in Canada has officially begun.

The business received court permission last week to begin liquidation on Monday.

The six stores being saved from the liquidation sale include the flagship on Yonge Street in Toronto, as well as a store in the city’s Yorkdale mall and another farther north in Hillcrest Mall in Richmond Hill. The remaining three span Montreal, the Carrefour Laval mall and Point-Claire, Que.

One of the stores not being saved is at Square One Shopping Centre in Mississauga.

There were a number of items on sale there Monday, including 40 to 60 per cent off some clothes.

Shoes were up to 60 per cent off.

There was a sign advising that customers can “spend more” and “save more” on clothing, accessories and shoes with 15 per cent off regular, sale and clearance prices for purchases of $125+, and 25 per cent off for purchases of $175+.

Discounts of 30 to 40 per cent off the regular price of bedding and kitchen items were offered.

There were also clearance tables with kitchen items that had been picked through, with prices listed as being under certain amounts.

Costume jewelry was 75 per cent off.

Some items appeared to be listed as being part of a regular sale as opposed to a clearance or liquidation sale.

Some big-name clothing brands, however, were not on sale and were still listed at their regular price.

Notably, a number of shoppers were leaving the store empty-handed.

There was also a sign advising customers that the last day for returns with receipts for items bought prior to March 25 will be April 6.

That will also be the last day customers can use their gift cards or gift certificates.

Hudson’s Bay points cannot be redeemed.
