A Mississauga report reveals that more than 8,000 tickets have been issued across the city since the program was launched almost a year ago, and some locations have been better at catching speeders than others.

Colonial Dr. between Garthwood Rd. and Orleans Rd. tops the list with 1,391 tickets issued.

These infractions occurred from Nov. 27, 2021 until Feb. 18, 2022 by the automated speed enforcement camera.

The temporary cameras have been placed on city streets on a rotational basis since the program began 11 months ago.

Other locations where fast drivers were nabbed in large numbers during the periods when the cameras were in place include:

  • 936 tickets – Mississauga Valley Blvd. between Cliff Rd. and Silver Creek Blvd.
  • 772 tickets – Whitehorn Ave. between Weir Chose and Pickwick Dr.
  • 711 tickets – Council Ring Rd. between Glen Erin Dr. and South Millway
  • 702 – Cedar Creek Dr. between Runningbrook Dr. and Lexicon Dr.
  • 559 – Darcel Ave. between Wrenwood Cres. and Brandon Gate Dr.

In total, 8,258 tickets have been issued since the program was launched in an effort to slow down drivers along streets that are not regularly patrolled by police enforcement.

When a driver is caught on camera speeding, a fine (which varies depending on the infraction) is mailed out.
