The largest specialized bulk food retail chain is coming to Oakville.

The Source Bulk Foods is opening up a new location at the Upper Oakville Shopping Centre.

The organic natural health and bulk food store will feature over 400 whole foods.

Co-owned by Paul and Emma Medeiros, the Australian-based bulk food chain says it is as much about providing nutritious products as it is about embracing a zero waste mindset.

Customers enjoy a fun, interactive and personal shopping experience while choosing from an array of wholefood products.

“By choosing to buy bulk and recycling your containers, not only can you buy as much or as little as you want, you are also making the decision to make a difference,” The Source said on its website.

The Source focuses on packaging and delivering products using zero waste. They reuse every item and container to ensure they’re contributing to waste reduction, while packaging their products.

Customers are also encouraged to bring their own containers.

The only paper used at the store is compostable bags, which are used to fill up on bulk food items.

Plastic containers are also reused. Once they are empty, they get sent back to the supplier to be cleaned and refilled with the same product.

Customers can fill up on a variety of products, including dried fruits, herbs and spices, cereals, pasta, rice, coffee and tea, flour, nuts and more.

Favourite products include cacao butter, epsom salts and pepitas.

Customers can also fill up on chemical-free cleaning products and hygiene care items like body cream, shampoo and conditioner.

The Source Bulk Foods has over 64 stores around the world, including the UK, New Zealand and Ireland. They have several locations in Canada, including Toronto and Vancouver.
