This Canadian-based retailer is saying goodbye to its little section in Suzy Shier and is making a comeback in a much bigger store at Square One in Mississauga.

Le Chateau, which was a one-stop shop known for its chic formal and semi-formal clothing as well as accessories, is coming back–but not with its own store.

The brand will grow its retail space within its sister company, Suzy Shier, in a bigger location.

The store will feature clothing from both brands, with Suzy offering casual, weekend and work attire and Le Château carrying dresses, footwear and accessories.

Before closing down its stores and liquidating assets due to the pandemic, Le Chateau was also one of the oldest stores inside Square One, dating back to 1973.

Up until its closure, the retailer was a mainstay in malls and shopping districts across Canada for over 60 years

“The retail industry faced numerous challenges due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the second wave currently hitting our communities across Canada. Its already evident impact on consumer demand for Le Chateau’s holiday party and occasion wear, which represents the core of our offering, has diminished Le Chateau’s ability to pursue its activities,” the company said in a statement from October 2020.

Although an exact date for when the Suzy Shier and Le Chateau duo will be opening is unavailable, the store’s signage hints that it will be sometime this month.
