A popular ballet is set to hit the City of Burlington, just in time for the holidays.

The Nutcracker, which is set to hit the Burlington Performing Arts Centre (BPAC) from Dec. 2-3, will be performed by the National Ballet Theatre of Ukraine.

While it is based on the story The Nutcracker and the King of Micewritten by E.T.A. Hoffman, details within live performances vary and can sometimes differ from the original tale.

The basic plot, however, usually remains the same and features a young girl who has dreams of a nutcracker prince and a battle against a mouse king, according to the Nutcracker ballet’s website.

Set to Tchaikovsky’s music, the upcoming show at the BPAC will likely include some beloved and recognizable songs including “Waltz of the Flowers”, “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” and “Waltz of the Snowflakes”.
