‘The Leader in Me’ student conference in Whitby to teach students about health promotion

The 4th annual The Leader in Me: Awareness to Action Student Conference this Wednesday will attract high school students from across the region who will learn how to create effective health promotion campaigns.

The students will be given valuable and up-to-date information regarding alcohol, marijuana, and vaping to use in their campaigns at their schools and in the community.

Attending the conference will be students representing the Durham District School Board, Durham Catholic District School Board, Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board and Conseil scolaire Viamonde, in partnership with the Durham Region Health Department, Lakeridge Health Mental Health and Addiction Services, Carea Community Health Centre and the YMCA Youth Cannabis Awareness Program.

The conference will be held at the Durham District School Board, 400 Taunton Rd. E., Whitby from 9:10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with the key note address from the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction.
