A single winning ticket sold in Quebec has claimed the $40 million jackpot in the June 26 Lotto Max draw, continuing a pattern that underscores the province’s outsized presence in Canada’s lottery landscape.

Lottery officials confirmed that the jackpot-winning ticket matched all seven numbers — 05, 06, 16, 30, 33, 43 and 51 — along with the bonus number 35. The winning ticket was the only one in Canada to take the top prize.

The ticket was sold in Quebec, though officials have not yet released the exact city or retailer.

In addition to the jackpot win, the draw produced six Maxmillions-style $100,000 prizes, with winning tickets sold across multiple regions including the Prairies, Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces.

The June 26 draw also generated more than 116,000 winning tickets at various prize levels nationwide, ranging from smaller cash payouts to free plays.

While full details of the jackpot winner remain limited, the result adds to Quebec’s long track record as one of Canada’s most frequent sources of major lottery wins. According to lottery data compiled by Loto-Québec, the province consistently produces dozens of high-tier prize winners each year and ranks as the second-largest lottery market in the country.

Recent draws and historical payouts have reinforced that trend. In 2024 alone, Loto-Québec reported nearly $1.7 billion in total prizes paid out, creating more than 100 new millionaires in the province. More recently, multiple multimillion-dollar wins have been recorded in Quebec, including a $50 million Lotto Max jackpot in St. Paul’s River and several $1 million prize tickets sold in different parts of the province.

The draw also featured 42 Maxmillions selections, with six of those $100,000 prizes claimed. The winning Encore number was 7577929, though no ticket matched all seven digits for the $1 million top Encore prize.

Lottery officials say the search for additional winning ticket locations continues, while the identity of the $40 million winner remains unknown.
