After closing its Burlington location earlier this year, a popular Thai restaurant is re-opening in Hamilton.

It was a difficult start to 2022 for one of Halton’s favourite Thai restaurants, but it’s not how you start — it’s how you finish, and PinToh will end the year in Hamilton.

PinToh had a four out of five-star review score on Google when it announced the closure of its 399 Elizabeth St. location. Citing burnout brought on by two years of COVID-19 restrictions, My-Thai Group decided to close up shop and regroup.

“As you know, the last couple of years have been kind of crazy,” read a Jan. 2022 Instagram post that has since been deleted. “It seems like we’re back to where we started, and while we’ve seen some of our friends in the industry not so lucky, we were blessed. With such amazing support from the community, we were able to not only survive but thrive.

“With that came so many challenges, and our tiny staff could only handle so much. It’s been emotionally draining keeping up, and quite frankly, we need a break and recharging.”

Popular Instagram foodie account, Taste of Burlington, posted that it was sad to hear about PinToh’s Burlington closure, and called it a culinary staple in the city’s downtown.

A charged-up PinToh by Chef Keng will re-open at 21 John St. North, the former home of Bambu, another Thai restaurant, and My-Thai, which is now located on Wilson Street in Ancaster.

PinToh has not set an official launch date, but it has already tested the market with pop-ups around Hamilton.
