Fifteen to 20 centimetres of snow are still expected in Durham Region tonight, with reduced visibility and difficult travel on the way for the afternoon commute.

Certain areas may get more snow and Environment Canada says isolated power outages are possible.

A Texas Low pressure system will bring rapidly accumulating snow early this afternoon and taper off to flurries by Thursday morning.

There will be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas today so drivers are urged to take care behind the wheel and allow extra time to reach your destination.

Durham Student Transportation Services is not reporting any zone-wide cancellations of bus services but a number of bus routes in the Brooklin area in north Whitby and in Clarington have been cancelled this morning. Parents can track updates to their child’s bus routes at https://bus.dsts.on.ca/
