A cold weather warning is in effect this week for Mississauga, Brampton, Halton and Durham and much of southern Ontario, but the worst is yet to come.

On Jan.30, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) announced that a bitterly cold airmass will impact the province Friday morning and move into the weekend, making Saturday, Feb.4, the coldest morning this winter.

In Mississauga, this is the forecast for later this week and the coldest will be on Friday night and Saturday early morning hitting close to -30c with the wind chill. That evening there will be 38km hr winds for the northwest.

Depending on cloud cover and wind speed, it is predicted that temperatures could fall to -30 degrees Celsius.

With these lows in temperature, it is advised to dress accordingly when going outdoors. ECCC recommends wearing layered clothing and wearing a jacket or coat that’s windproof, water-resistant and breathable.
