A weather advisory in effect in Toronto and other cities in southern Ontario

We all know winter is coming but in the next few days, some GTA residents will feel like it’s already here.

A frost warning has been issued for parts of the GTA, including Caledon and parts of the Durham Region, such as Uxbridge, Beaverton and northern areas.

According to Environment Canada, temperatures will fall to almost zero on Thursday night and persist into Friday morning. Frost could damage some crops in frost-prone areas, so residents are encouraged to cover up any plants.

In Caledon, temperatures are expected to fall to 2 degrees Celsius tonight (Oct. 12). In Uxbridge and Beaverton, temperatures are also expected to drop into the lower single digits.

“Take preventative measures to protect frost-sensitive plants and trees,” Environment Canada says on its website.
