Temperature records might have been set across much of Ontario today, including Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Durham and Halton, but don’t pack away that cold weather gear just yet.

Afterall, it’s still February and it’s still Canada.

The mild weather should stick around for the weekend, but expect temps to dip back under freezing by the end of the week, with the wind chill making it feel closer to -7C.

Their forecasters are predicting a pattern change sweeping across Canada into early next week which will finally push away the above-seasonal warmth we’ve seen across Ontario in recent days.

“We’ll see temperatures drop each day next week back toward the seasonal mark as a trough digging out of northern Canada allows arctic air to spill southward,” said a spokesperson.

Forecasters are also watching the potential for a clipper to arrive with the colder weather later in the week.
