14 year-old girl shot to death at north Mississauga apartment building

Police are investigating what they believe to be the murder of a 14-year-old girl who was shot to death last night at an apartment building in the Malton area of Mississauga.

Homicide detectives with Peel Regional Police are trying to piece together exactly what happened at the Darcel Ave./Etude Dr. residential building leading up to the 9 p.m. call on Tuesday night.

Upon their arrival at the scene, police discovered a girl who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was reportedly found in a stairwell and was a resident of the building.

“Despite the efforts of first responders, she was pronounced deceased at the scene,” police said.

Police have not released any other information surrounding the death, but they did confirm they’re treating it as a homicide investigation.
