Peel Regional Police got a call around noon on November 18 regarding a shooting in the parking lot of a school near The Gore Rd. and Gardenbrooke Tr. in Brampton.

They later tracked the victim, an unidentified 18-year-old, down to a local hospital suffering life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was again transferred to a trauma centre for treatment. He was later listed as stable but remains in a life-threatening state.

Hours later police released a suspect description. Hours after that, police attached a name and face to that description.

Investigators were searching for a 17-year-old from Brampton. Typically, minors’ identities are protected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act. However, police received special permission to make the suspect’s identity public for a five-day period.

Insauga has removed the suspect’s name from this story following an arrest in connection to the shooting.

Police believe the attack was a targeted incident and that the suspect was seen fleeing the scene after the shooting. The male suspect was believed to be armed and dangerous following the shooting.
