Teen facing charges after 19 year old female shot in Oshawa

An Oshawa teen is facing multiple charges following a shooting that took place earlier this week on Wednesday, Apr. 13.
At approximately 11:44 a.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to an armed person call in the area of Normandy Street and Dean Avenue in Oshawa, where they located a 19 year old female suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre where she was treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
She remains in hospital in stable condition.
“The suspect involved fled the residence but was located and arrested a short distance away by police,” Durham police said.
The 17 year old male suspect is charged with:
- Attempt Murder
- Aggravated Assault
- Assault with a Weapon
- Discharge Firearm with intent to Wound
- Unlicensed Person Possess Prohibited/Restricted Weapon
- Possess Weapon for Committing Offence
- Use Firearm During Commission of an Offence
- Careless Use/Handle/Store Firearm
- Pointing a Firearm
- Possess Loaded Restricted or Prohibited Firearm
The suspect, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was held for a bail hearing.
