Teen faces dangerous driving charges after last year’s fatal Brock rollover

A teenager is facing dangerous driving charges after a rollover in Brock Township last fall resulted in the death of a 15-year-old and injuries to six other teens.
A 2006 Chevrolet Sierra pickup was driving south on Sideline Rd 18 around 12:30 a.m. October 24, 2021. The chevy lost control and left the roadway near Concession Rd 9, flipping over before it came to rest in the ditch.
Six teenagers between 15 and 17 years old were packed into the Sierra with a 16 year old driver from Sunderland. Six of the seven occupants were thrown from the car in the rollover.
Five suffered serious injuries as a result. A 15-year-old from Sunderland died in the crash.
The six who survived the crash were taken to a Toronto trauma centre. Two of them were listed as stable and four in critical condition by a candlelight vigil held on October 27. More than 200 people went to Sunderland park that evening to show solidarity with the community.
The injured teens continue to recover from the crash.

Durham Police charged the driver, now 17, with dangerous driving causing death and five counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm on April 1.
The driver’s identity is protected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
