A teen is likely to be charged with attempted murder after a man was critically injured in a stabbing inside a Mississauga home on Friday afternoon.
Peel Regional Police were called to a residence in the area of Indian Road and Indian Grove in Lorne Park shortly after 3 p.m. on July 17 following reports of a violent altercation.
When officers arrived, they found an adult man suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was rushed to a trauma centre, where he remains in life-threatening condition.
Investigators arrested a 17-year-old male at the scene. Police say the youth is expected to face an attempted murder charge.
The suspect cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Police have also confirmed the incident stemmed from a dispute between family members inside the home, making it a domestic-related investigation. An edged weapon was recovered at the scene.
Investigators have emphasized that the stabbing was an isolated incident involving people known to one another and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The investigation forced the closure of Indian Grove for several hours as officers gathered evidence around the property.
The stabbing occurred in Lorne Park, one of Mississauga’s most affluent neighbourhoods, known for its mature trees, large homes and comparatively low levels of violent crime. While serious incidents can happen anywhere, Peel Regional Police statistics show there have been more than 1,600 assault-related incidents reported across Mississauga so far this year, with very few occurring in the immediate Lorne Park area.
Police have not released the identities of either the victim or the accused, nor have they disclosed the specific relationship between the two family members.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Peel Regional Police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
