The biggest event on the Canadian Tank Museum’s calendar was even bigger this year, with the Queen’s Own Rifles and the hometown Ontario Regiment arriving in Oshawa for a tactical training exercise.

The June 13-14 weekend is Aquino Weekend, honouring the contributions of the local Ontario Regiment in the Battle of Aquino, an important battle that led to victory by Allied forces in Italy in 1943, with a battle re-enactment, museum tours and tanks and other military vehicles on display.

The same weekend Tactical Group Paratus conducted Exercise Paratus Rendezvous, with the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada and the Ontario Regiment (RCAC) executing an airborne operation to secure an airfield, followed by a Tactical Air Landing Operation to reinforce the defensive positions with light vehicles.

The Royal Canadian Air Force supported the exercise with a CC-130J Hercules to transport paratroopers, vehicles, and equipment.
