Burlington residents get ready to spend Canada Day chin deep in saucy ribs while helping out charity.

Local rib lovers can chow down at the Drive-Thru Ribfest hosted by the Rotary Burlington Lakeshore club next Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the Burlington Centre.

While the annual festival won’t be held at a park again this season because of COVID-19 restrictions, rib lovers can still enjoy a takeout menu featuring a variety of food venders.

This year’s rib vendors include Camp 31, Billy Bones BBQ, Uncle Sam’s BBQ Stand and Sticky Fingers. Other food vendors on hand include Blaze Pizza, East Side Marios, Ontario CornRoasters.com and Tiny Tom Donuts.

The vendors will be stationed in the parking lot and cars will be able to enter through the Fairview entrance to line up.

Rib teams will approach the car and take orders as no one can leave their car at any point. Safety is the top priority. Payments will be processed through debit, credit or cash, with tap payments being encouraged.

No guest outside the car will be served. No masks or gloves are required.

There will be live entertainment throughout the event as you wait for your food order.

Mike Stevenson will play from noon to 2 p.m., followed by Adam Cooke at 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and wrapping up with Tim Park from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The event is a fundraiser with volunteers coming around to collect donations during the event. Online donations can also be made at https://canadaslargestribfest.com/rotary-drive-thru-ribfest/.

The funds raised during last year’s proceeds were donated to charities including the Burlington Counselling & Family Services, Canadian Diabetes Association Summer Camp, Canadian Mental Health Association, Food Banks Canada, Halton Fresh Food Box and Burlington Humane Society.

The Burlington Centre is located at 777 Guelph Line.
