Feel like going for a walk? How about a stroll with an Oakville ghost that can fill you in on who they were?

The Oakville Historical Society is once again offering its annual Ghost Walks this fall.

Local residents will be able to that take an “errie walk” into Olde Oakville of the 1800’s and hear some fun ghost stories. Leading the way will be a ghost from the past and that could be a mayor, merchant, ship captain or a Chisholm relative.

Each Ghost Leader shares their life’s perspective and you may even meet some other ghosts along the way and get to interact with them.

Conducted in English, this year’s Ghost Walks are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. on:

  • Wednesday, Oct. 11 to Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023
  • Monday, Oct. 16 to Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023
  • Monday, Oct. 23 to Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023
  • Monday, Oct. 30, 2023

The Oakville Historical Society has made improvements this season to help make your walk back into the town’s history a little more enjoyable.

Learning about the ghost and his or her’s history will be a lot easier this season with the addition of two WinBridge S92 Pro Portable PA Systems. The new sound system will allow up to 150 people to clearly hear what is being said and is specifically designed for outdoor activities.

Walking groups this season will include only up to 15 per tour. While some walks may show 30, they are actually two groups of 15 to accommodate more Ghost walkers.

There’s also a new ticketing system that will allow customers to manage their tickets online. This includes subject to availability and timing, changes to the date/time of a Ghost Walk plus cancellation for a refund. This ends 48 hours before the scheduled walk.

A total of 15 people will be allowed per walk. Residents must register and pay online. Ticket sales close at 1 p.m. on the day of the Ghost Walk. Online ticket sales only.

Ghost Walks leave from and return from the Oakville Historical Society’s offices at 110 King Street. Walk through the big white gates at Navy and King Streets. Then follow the main path and lights to our offices.

The historical walks are about 12 blocks and last about an hour.

After the walk, ghost walkers will be able to enjoy cider and cookies and gain more insight into the history of Oakville and its ghosts.

Those taking part in the Ghost Walks should make sure they dress for the weather (rain/cold).

Those individuals with mobility or language issues must contact the Oakville Historical Society in advance to determine if their special needs can be accommodated.

No pets are allowed, though service animals are allowed.

Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under. Virtual group walks are also available for $75. You and your group can also ride the Ghost Walk route on your own bus for $60.
