Take a walk among the tallgrass at Mississauga waterfront park

Residents are invited to take a one-hour walking tour through one of Mississauga’s most popular–and picturesque–waterfront parks next month.

City of Mississauga forestry staff will lead the walking tours of Jack Darling Memorial Park’s rare, native tallgrass prairie and various naturalization projects on Aug. 11.

First tour runs from 1 to 2 p.m. while the later walking tour gets underway at 5:30 p.m.

“On this one-hour walking tour, forestry staff will showcase work that they have been doing to increase biodiversity and protect and enhance rare ecosystems, and (they’ll also speak about) why these habitats are important,” City officials say.

Officials add that more information will be provided on how participants can become involved in upcoming tree-planting and stewardship events.

Participation is free, and those interested must register for the walk.
