A truck driver caught swerving on an Oakville road is now out of service and is facing charges.

Halton Regional Police Cst. Marc Taraso observed the driver of the straight truck swerving Thursday (Oct. 13) on Dundas St.

Cst. Taraso says he noticed the driver was on his cellphone talking to someone while driving before he pulled him over.

He conducted a “level 1” inspection and discovered there was no pre-trip inspection on the truck or no Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration certificate.

The inspection also revealed an inoperative parking brake, the steer axle tire sidewall cut cord was exposed and the amount of registered gross weight (RGW), which determines the fee paid for truck licence plates, was overweight by 500kg.

Cst. Taraso says the driver is facing “charges” and the truck is now “out of service.”
