Thanks to residents with a sweet tooth and a big heart for helping out good causes, Tim Hortons’ Smile Cookies campaign in Oakville was a sweet success this year.

The annual cookie campaign, which was held earlier this year from May 1 through May 7, raised over $100,000 at local Tim Hortons restaurants.

“We’re blown away by the generosity of the Oakville community!,” said Food4Kids Halton on Twitter. “Over $106,000 was raised at (Tim Hortons) restaurants during Smile Cookie week!

“Thanks to Tims owners, staff, & Food4Kids Halton volunteers for their extraordinary efforts and to all who purchased smile cookies.”

In all this year, Tim Hortons a record-breaking $19.7 million was raised through the sale of Smile Cookies this year. The money will support over 600 charities and community groups across Canada and the United States, including Food4Kids Halton.

“We’re so proud and humbled that Tims guests have once again shown incredible support for our Smile Cookie campaign, and important charities and community groups where they live, by helping us raise a record-breaking $19.7 million,” says Axel Schwan, President of Tim Hortons for Canada and the United States.

A Tim Hortons in Dunnville, owned by Ryan DiTommaso and Ashleigh MacLeod, sold the most Smile Cookies this year with the restaurant handing out almost 52,000 hand-decorated cookies this year. A stunning feet considering Dunnville has just 6,000 residents.

The first-ever Smile Cookie campaign in 1996 raised funds to support Hamilton Children’s Hospital. Since then, the annual charitable campaign has raised a total of more than $111 million for charities and community groups.

Recipients include local hospitals, community care organizations, food banks and schools.
