Police in Hamilton have begun a suspicious death investigation after a woman, believed to have died earlier this week, was found dead in her apartment at Wesley Community Homes.

Hamilton Police (HPS) states that at 11 a.m. on Thursday (Nov. 10), its offices responded to 195 Ferguson Ave. N. for reports of a deceased 38-year-old female who was found in her apartment. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.

“Death was obvious,” HPS states, adding: “Police believe the victim died late Sunday evening or early Monday morning,” which would have been more than 3 full days before the discovery. The address is that of the Wesley Community Homes non-profit, which operates subsidized apartment dwellings there. (The similar name aside, it is a separate organization from Wesley Urban Ministries, a social services organization which is on the same property.)

Detectives from HPS investigated at the apartment throughout Thursday and found evidence that suggests foul play.

“Evidence at the scene has led detectives to be concerned with the circumstances surrounding the female’s death,” the HPS release adds.

The police say they are reaching out to the public for assistance.

Anyone with information that might be helpful should contact HPS Det. Kevin Heyink (905-546-2288).

Information may also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers (1-800-222-8477; online at crimestoppershamilton.com).
