Suspension and impound for Caledon driver clocked at over 180 km/h on Hwy 403

Police have taken a driver from Caledon off the road after they were clocked going nearly double the speed limit on a busy Ontario highway.

The OPP says an officer was working speed enforcement on Hwy 403 near Brantford shortly after 6:15 p.m. on Saturday (July 29) when they witnessed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.

Police say the driver was clocked going more than 180 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone.

The 27-year-old driver from Caledon was stopped and hit with stunting and speeding charges. Their licence was suspended for 30 days and their vehicle was also impounded for 14 days.

The driver is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford at a later date. Police have not released any additional details about the accused.
