Suspended license for Brampton trucker caught going 90 km/h in 50 km/h zone: police

A trucker from Brampton has been taken off the road temporarily after police say they were caught driving nearly twice the speed limit in a 50 km.h zone.

Just after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, the OPP says an officer with the Haldimand County detachment pulled over a tractor-trailer on Highway 3 in Canfield, approximately 45 kilometres south of Hamilton.

The officer was doing speed enforcement in the area when they clocked a tractor-trailer travelling more than 90 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone, police said.

Police charged a 22-year-old from Brampton with:

  • Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive Speed
  • Speeding – 1-49km/h Over Posted Limit.

Police did not release the name of the accused.

The driver had their licence suspended for 30 days and their vehicle impounded for 14 days. They are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Cayuga at a later date.
