A driver was stopped on one of Mississauga’s busiest highways driving at nearly 80 kilometres over the speed limit.
OPP officers based in Mississauga were patrolling Hwy. 403. A driver was heading west down the highway at the same time headed toward Hurontario St. near the city centre.
The officers clocked the car at 179 km/h. When they caught up to the driver he told them “I was only going 150 to 160, not 179.” Even if he was he would still catch a stunt driving charge as it applies anytime a driver exceeds 150 km/h in a 100 zone.
The charge comes along with an automatic 30-day licence suspension and a 14-day car impound.
Officer also charged the driver with impaired driving with over 80 mg of alcohol in his blood. This pushed his licence suspension up to 90 days.
