Suspect sought after Uxbridge attempted cell phone store robbery

A cell phone store robbery has led to a manhunt for an unidentified suspect.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m. on September 24, a man approached the Telus Mobility store on Toronto St in Uxbridge. He was armed with a long metal object and what appeared to be a gun.

Police were called shortly thereafter, but the suspect fled before officers could respond. The suspect was last spotted running through the Uxbridge Cemetery.

Investigators describe the suspect as a young Black man between 15 and 20 years old. He wore all-black clothes and carried a backpack.

Police are asking anyone with dash-cam or surveillance video of the area at that time to share the footage. Anyone with information can call Durham Regional Police Robbery Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5359 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
