A suspect in the downtown Oshawa stabbing less than two weeks ago has been arrested.

Early in the morning of Jan. 31, a man was stabbed in an apartment near the Bagot St. and Simcoe St. intersection. Durham Regional Police responded at 6:17 a.m. and found the victim, 40, suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.

Paramedics rushed the victim to a Toronto trauma centre for treatment, from where he has since been discharged.

A suspect fled the area on foot after the stabbing. However, a police search did not turn him up by the time of the police’s first announcement.

Following an investigation, police arrested Paul Watson, 58 of Oshawa, on nine charges including; aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and uttering death threats. Watson remains in custody until a bail hearing.
