A third suspect in connection with a homicide in Peterborough earlier this month may be in Durham Region, police say.
Two others wanted in the murder of a 33-year-old man on December 6 were arrested on December 18 and are in custody. Peterborough Police continue to search for Michael Waterman, 44, who is wanted on second degree murder charges.
Three other people have been arrested and are facing charges in connection with the incident.
Officers with the Peterborough Police Investigative Services Unit and Belleville Police Tactical Team executed a warrant at a residence in Belleville on December 18 and arrested 28-year-old Peter Pople of Peterborough and charged him with second Degree Murder.
That same day 29-year-old Kaya Coughlin was located and arrested at Trinity Community Centre in Peterborough.
Both made their first court appearances December 19.
Police are actively seeking information regarding Waterman’s whereabouts and are asking anyone with information to contact the Peterborough Police Crime Line at (705) 876-1122 x555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.stopcimehere.ca
“Although this was an isolated incident, it nevertheless strikes at the heart of public safety, and a community’s feelings of being safe,” said Peterborough Police Chief Stuart Betts, who thanked Belleville Police for their help in making the first two arrests. “Locating, arresting and bring those believed responsible before the court has been a top priority and is critically important to the victim’s family and our community as a whole.”
