Suspect arrested after male stabbed with screwdriver in Niagara Falls

Police have made an arrest following a stabbing in Niagara Falls on Friday, August 13.

Officers attended the area of Fourth Avenue and Hamilton Street for an ambulance call.

“Investigation revealed that a 30 year old male and a 21 year old male had been arguing over the ownership of a bicycle when the 30 year old male stabbed the 21 year old male with a screwdriver,” said police.”

Police say the victim fled and got help from witnesses in the area.

He was treated by paramedics on scene and then air-lifted to an out of region hospital with life-threatening injuries. He is now in stable condition.

Police have arrested 30 year old Karl Schmidt, who is charged with Aggravated Assault and Fail to comply.

Schmidt was held in custody pending a bail hearing on Saturday, August 14.
