Summer tourism transit service in ‘The County’ in eastern Ontario extended to October

Getting around to Prince Edward County’s many tourist attractions without a car is a breeze this summer, thanks to County Transit’s Summer Weekend Connector buses, with an expanded program this year providing transit options around the county until October 18.

The service returned for the 2026 season on July 3, with an enhanced route connecting Wellington (including Wellington on the Lake), Bloomfield, Picton (including the Heights/Base31) and Belleville, with plenty of stops between.

Two buses run on two routes with transfers in Bloomfield, making it easier than ever to travel across ‘the County’ without a vehicle and providing some environmental benefits as well.

Th extended summer season is made possible through the municipality’s Municipal Accommodations Tax revenue and through the county’s corporate partners, including Base31 and others.

“With these partnerships, service will continue through the Picton Fair and into the ‘shoulder season,’ including Wellington’s Pumpkinfest weekend on October 18,” the county said in a news release.

Expanded funding also supports service to and from the Drill Hall concert series at Base31, helping eventgoers travel safely and conveniently until late.

Students with a valid ID can also take advantage of the service by riding free on all County Transit services beginning July 3, a program that was approved by council in the spring.

In addition, year-round weekday service between Belleville and Picton increased from five to six round trips from July 6, with three trips in the morning and three in the afternoon and evening.
