Summer in the City concert series returns to Oshawa July 7

There’s something for every music lover to enjoy when Summer in the City, sponsored by TD Canada, returns to Oshawa beginning on Thursday, July 7.

The free outdoor concert and event series kicks off on Thursday, July 7 at 7 p.m. with an evening of Soca from The Band Destiny (weather permitting) at beautiful Lakeview Park.

Remaining concerts take place 7 p.m. on various Thursdays at Memorial Park Bandshell (110 Simcoe Street South), weather permitting. Audiences will enjoy a variety of performances highlighting all genres of music including, classic rock, soul, jazz, blues, folk and country. Check out the online schedule for more details on the performers.

On August 31 the entertainment shifts back to Lakeview Park for a viewing of Sing 2, so bring a lawn chair and enjoy the movie on the big outdoor screen. The movie begins at dusk (approximately 8:30 p.m.). Movie-goers are reminded to dress for the weather.

Summer in the City also features performances by the Oshawa Civic Band on various Wednesday evenings beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Bandshell. The Oshawa Civic Band also hosts a concert on Saturday, July 16 at 1:30 p.m. at Lakeview Park, near the Oshawa Museum.

“With an outstanding lineup of talented musicians, this promises to be a fantastic Summer in the City for Oshawa,” said Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter. “We invite you and your family to join us for a free evening of outdoor music.”
