Power outages are being reported across Burlington, following a wind- and rainstorm that swept across the area early on Tuesday evening.

Burlington Hydro says the storm, which contained gusts of up to 100 kilometres per hour, brought down trees and branches on to power lines in many areas of the city. There is no timeline yet for expected time of resumption as crews assess the damage, and extra crews have been called in to assist.

Over 2,200 customers were affected, at last report.

UPDATE: As of 11:10 p.m. on Tuesday, 1,311 customers were still without power.

Any downed power line can be reported to 1-877-310-4937.
