Two Peel Regional Police officers suffered minor injuries after the driver of a stolen pickup truck “intentionally” rammed their cruisers as they tried to box in the vehicle late this afternoon (June 28) at a busy intersection near downtown Mississauga.

Police are now on the hunt for both the driver and the black Dodge Ram pickup–bearing Ontario licence plate marker BL56559–that struck the cruisers just after 5 p.m. in the Rathburn and Mavis Rds. area, several blocks west of the downtown core.

The pickup sustained front-end damage after striking the police cars.

According to police, the incident occurred as officers were actively following the stolen truck. Police say the driver of the pickup “intentionally” struck the cruisers in making their getaway.

Police have not released a suspect description at this time.

Anyone with information related to the whereabouts of the pickup truck or other information about the incident is urged to call police at 905-453-2121.

This is a developing story. More to come.
