stolen minivan, teen girls chasrged

Two teenage girls are facing charges after allegedly being found in possession of a stolen minivan and imitation guns in Oshawa on Sunday.

Durham Region Police on patrol Sunday evening spotted a Dodge minivan that was reportedly stolen near Glen Street and Porter Street in the city’s south end. Officers approached the vehicle and found two teens, aged 18 and 14, inside. Both females were taken into custody and a search of the minivan discovered two imitation firearms.

Police say the vehicle is linked to several other incidents, including dangerous operation of a vehicle, mischief, and assault with a weapon, where the occupants discharged a BB-style gun at the victim. These investigations are ongoing.

Brooklynn Noseworthy, 18, and a 14-year-old – both from Oshawa – were both charged with possession of stolen property.

Noseworthy was released on an undertaking. The 14-year-old was released on a youth diversion.

Anyone with cell phone, dash cam, surveillance footage or information about this incident is asked to contact Cst. Killen of Central East Division at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1701.
