Stolen Lexus found in Caledon ‘chop shop’; 2 Mississauga residents charged

A stolen Lexus was found in pieces on a rural property in Caledon leading to charges for three people.
A Town of Caledon bylaw officer contacted police about a “chop shop” and a 2021 Lexus RX350 on a rural property on The Gore Road on Aug. 23, OPP said.
On Aug. 29, police got a search warrant to check the property and recovered the stolen Lexus plus a stolen 2022 Toyota Tundra also in pieces, police said. Offence-related property was seized, police said.
Police said the estimated value of property recovered was $120,000.
Three people face charges.
Afamefuna Okorie, 38, and Sochima Ugwuagbo, 24, both of Mississauga, and Chidera Ogbu, 44, of Etobicoke were all charged with two counts of possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
The accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on Oct. 3, 2024, for their first appearance.
