Stolen car rams police cruiser in Pickering, leaving officer seriously injured

A Durham Region police officer was taken to hospital after his criser was rammed by a stolen car, leaving both the cop and the other driver seriously injured.

Around 5 a.m. April 16, police launched a stolen car investigation after a taxi was swiped. They were informed the car, a white  minivan, was on its way to the Concession Rd 9 and Sideline Rd 12 area in Pickering.

The officer was parked on the roadside when the car came barrelling toward him. The stolen vehicle rammed the officer’s cruiser in a head-on collision.

The driver of the stolen suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital. The officer was also seriously injured, but has since been released from hospital.

D’Shaun Wilson, 27 of Oshawa, has been charged with, robbery, aggravated assault, dangerous driving, assault with a weapon and possession of property obtained by crime. He will remain in custody until a bail hearing.
