It’s official. Mississauga and Brampton residents and the rest of Ontario again are being placed under a stay-at-home order by the provincial government.

This time, however, you won’t be able to shop for non-essential items at places such as Walmart and Costco as sections that sell clothes, toys, cosmetics, electronics and other items not considered necessities will be out of reach to customers.

As well, Premier Doug Ford has announced mobile units will be deployed to areas that have been most hard hit to deliver vaccines to those in essential workplaces and to communities considered hotspots where people as young as 18 will be able to receive the vaccine.

The government also said frontline teachers in hotspot such as Brampton and Mississauga will also be eligible to receive the vaccine and will eventually rolled out to the rest of the province.

The moves come as cases of COVID-19 across Ontario continue to soar and intensive care units at hospitals climb to near capacity.

The restrictions will be similar to what Ontario experienced in January which will see most stores closed but only allowed curbside sales.

As well, large warehouses and fulfillments that dot the landscape through many areas of Ontario will be allowed to continue to operate.

Today’s announcement also called for Ontario residents not to travel outside their cities and towns, but the premier stopped short of issuing the travel ban that some had been asking for to curb the spread of the virus.
