Stanley District Tower in Niagara Falls will be overshadowed by new 77-floor condo project

When the 19-storey Stanley District condo tower and adjacent six-storey boutique hotel complex eventually gets build, it will only stand tall for a short while.

Bordered by Stanley St., Ferry St. and Allendale Ave., the new condo tower will be one of the downtown’s larger non-hotel building but is literally a stone’s throw (or a couple of blocks) from where the new 77-storey condo development is being proposed for at the corner of Robinson St. and Allandale Ave.

Dubbed “Niagara 77,” the second proposal is looking to become the largest condo building in Canada.

That said, both developments are being built by La Pue International so technically, there’s a real connection between the new buildings.

Niagara Falls Council had to override staff’s disapproval to okay the new Niagara 77 as the area is presently zoned for a 30-floor limit, meaning the Stanley District proposal was well within the limits of the downtown area.

So while the Stanley District tower will be a big gun downtown for a while, it will eventually be dwarfed by Niagara 77.

At this point, neither proposal has an finish date as the ground has just been broken for the Stanley District complex but no construction has begun.

La Rue International says of the hotel-condo building, “Comprising stellar condominium residences, a boutique hotel and street level retail, The Stanley District is bringing a new level of luxury and panache to Niagara’s evolving landscape. Close to all the cultural offerings and amenities of this vibrant area, The Stanley District is securely entrenched within one of the city’s most desirable communities.”
