Stabbing victim dead after 'disturbance' at apartment in Brampton

The hunt is on for one suspect after a man was stabbed to death in what police are calling a “disturbance” at an apartment building in Brampton.

Peel Regional Police said on Wednesday that an adult male victim was rushed to hospital around 8:30 a.m. after a stabbing at an apartment in the area of Baycliffe Crescent and Crossbill Road in Brampton.

The man suffered life-threatening injuries in the altercation and investigators now say the adult man has been pronounced dead.

Police have not identified the victim and have not said whether the man was a resident of the apartment building.

“We do believe that the suspect and victim were familiar with each other, so this is an isolated incident and we don’t believe there to be any further risk to public safety at this location stemming from this incident,” a Peel police spokesperson told reporters in an update on Wednesday.

The investigation is now considered a homicide and investigators are searching for one suspect in connection with the stabbing. Police are asking any residents of the building or anyone who may have witnessed the stabbing or have information on the suspect to contact investigators.
